Michael Kors explains how he designed his limited edition line of watches for his Watch Hunger Stop Campaign.
PARTNER WITH THE U.N. TO FIGHT HUNGER
I AM STILL TRYING TO WRAP MY MIND AROUND THE BOSTON MARATHON BOMBINGS.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO WRITE ABOUT MY FEELINGS, I STARTED THINKING ABOUT HOW PEOPLE IN AMERICA ARE TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE; SPECIFICALLY ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY ARE FIGHTING FOR; ONE NAME IMMEDIATELY CAME TO MIND:
Michael, who has been fighting to end hunger for years, teamed up with the gorgeous Halle Berry in a new campaign
For this campaign, Kors’, designed a limited edition line of watches

Burgundy Tights- H&M
Stud Earrings- Aldo
Gold Initial Necklace (hard to see)- Gorjana (Shopbop.com)
Statement Handbag- Michael Kors
I did not wear this outfit to work, however it was perfect for my hectic day yesterday. I was on-the-go all day long, going from a hair appointment, to nannying ( I nanny part-time) and finally ending my day with drinks with a friend. This outfit was comfortable yet stylish, the perfect combination. I called this look “working girl” because it would be perfect for the office (maybe substituting the booties for classic black pumps). This look can also easily transition from day to night.
Current Trends I Incorporated
-ruffles (seen in my cardigan)
-gold initial necklace
-black and gold stud earrings

All About The Style, Beauty, Accessories
The 55th Annual Grammy Awards, which aired LIVE last night, featured a night filled with great music and even better style. However this year, for the first year ever, a dress code was established. Given the wild outfits that we have seen at The Grammy Awards in the past, I’m personally glad that one was put into place; sometimes too much is just too much. The dress code stated that one cannot bare sides or under-curvature of the breasts. Of course there will always be a rebellious few that didn’t abide by the dress code but most did, creating a very exciting night of gorgeous dresses and gowns and for one special woman, a gorgeous pant suit. Blake Lively: Golden Girl
You guys have probably been wondering why Blake Lively is the background on my blog
Blake Lively is my Fashion Icon
I first saw Blake Lively sporting her long blonde tresses in the movie, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” Then in September 2007, “Gossip Girl” based on the bestselling book series premiered on the CW. Her breakout role as the beautiful but troubled teenage socialite Serena van der Woodsen on the show, sealed her fate as the ultimate fashion “It Girl” in my book. Not only did viewers tune in to watch drama unfold on NYC’s Upper East Side but also to see the elaborate outfits created by the show’s costume designer, Eric Daman. Lively’s character is the ultimate Fashionista, always looking put together from head to toe; in a sense, Blake’s personal style reflects her TV character. In an interview with Glamour magazine, Lively confessed that she does not have a stylist but rather puts together her own outfits, often using the fashion knowledge she acquired while starring on GG. When she wasn’t playing Serena van der Woodsen, Blake was busy playing a young drugged out single mom in “The Town”. She met her future husband, Ryan Reynolds, when she was cast as his love interest in “The Green Lantern” and most recently starred in the summer blockbuster “Savages.” Over the past few years Blake has not only solidified her status in Hollywood as a great actress but has emerged as the girl with a killer fashion sense both on and off the red carpet. Her go to red carpet look is a feminine yet sexy dress, heels and a statement piece of jewelry. Lively walked the red carpet at the BAFTA awards in a light blue lace Marchesa gown. She can be seen wearing everything from a neon pink Michael Kors dress, to an Elie Saab royal blue pant suit, to a fabulous gown by designer Prabal Gurung. With her flowing blonde tresses, flawless makeup and impeccable style, Blake Lively will continue to stay in the spotlight and remain my personal fashion icon.

Marital Status– Married to Ryan Reynolds: September 14th, 2012-Present
- Has stated that she is rather self conscious about being tall. (She’s a little over 5’10”.) So much so, that she actually dislikes wearing heels.
- Lively was chosen by designer Karl Lagerfeld as the “face” of Chanel’s new “Mademoiselle” handbag line in January 2011
- She was named the face of the ad campaign for Gucci’s new fragrance “Premiere” in September 2012
- Trademark- Long blonde hair; Beauty mark underneath right eye

ON ACTING: “With acting, I think half of it is just acting confident. We stand on these red carpets and pose in these dresses, but we’re all only so confident. It doesn’t mean we think we’re great looking or anything. It’s all a façade.”
ON FAMILY: ” I probably feel the most alive when I’m with my family and also when I’m cooking, and those normally coincide with each other. I love to cook for my family, that’s the best. I have all my nieces and nephews there, and you really use your hands and it’s such an experience for all the senses; for the touch, for the smell, for the sight, so you feel really alive.”
ON HER LIFESTYLE: I don’t drink. I don’t do drugs. I grew up with the mindset that after work you go to dinner and watch a movie. I don’t want to go to a club and not wear panties.
ON NOT HAVING A STYLIST: “When I’m going to an event, I’ll send Christian (Louboutin) a picture of my outfit and say, `What shoes do you think I should wear with this?'” (Elle.com)
ON RELATIONSHIPS: Yeah, I don’t comment on my relationships… My anonymity is something I treasure. Wanting to be an actor and wanting to be famous are different. (Before becoming Mrs. Ryan Reynolds)
ON KIDS- “I hope to have a few girls one day. If not girls, they better be trannies. Because I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories that need to be appreciated.” (Elle.com)
ON THE FUTURE:” I want babies. Lots of babies. Of course!”
” I want to have a brunch place, a bakery, and a Southern restaurant – because my family’s from Georgia – and then I want a place that is all-over-the-world cuisine. I take a cooking class everywhere I travel. I find it’s the best way to get to know a culture. It’s what people bring to the family every day, what they break bread over – it’s a very intimate thing.”

Award Season Has Begun!
I watched the “Live from the Red Carpet“ special on E! and was carefully taking notes on trends of the red carpet and making a list of the Best Dressed and Worst Dressed celebrities of the evening; although it was hard to keep up with all of the beautiful gown
In this post, I am going to pretend I am one of the judges on E!’s “Fashion Police“ and reveal my “Best Dressed” and “Worst Dressed” picks, and ultimately pick my favorite look of the evening and my least favorite.
There were some dresses that I wasn’t sure if I “liked” or” hated.” I am going to let you make the decision on those dresses.

My Worst Dressed Pick- Jodie Foster
Jodie , although the color of this dress does bring out your eyes, you look like a shiny and shimmering blue disco ball and I don’t like what is going on with the straps of the dress. You are a terrific actress and congratulations on receiving the “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Stick to what you know best: acting.

Happy New Year!
A decade ago, I was an awkward 7th grader adjusting to so many changes like boys, cliques and mean girls, my body, etc. I had no idea who I was as a person; I had no sense of fashion. Well 10 years later, I can happily say that I know who I am (for the most part). I am a 22 year old young woman who is: funny, outgoing, smart, caring, and confident. I’ve endured some really hard things but I wouldn’t take them back because I am wiser and stronger for having overcome them. AND I have one heck of a sense of style! If you had asked me 10 years ago where I saw myself in the year 2013, I would have probably said that I have graduated from an ivy league school and am in my first semester of law school. BTW I was obsessed with the movie “Legally Blonde” when I was 13 and wanted to be a lawyer like Elle Woods. That movie made being a lawyer look like fun and Elle, Reese Witherspoon‘s character was quite fashionable.
If someone would have told me when I was 13 that in 10 years, I would not only be working in fashion at Michael Kors, but have my OWN fashion blog and be “The Passionate Fashionista,” I would have said “Yeah right.”
FAST FORWARD 10 YEARS
1. I have my first “Big Girl” job working as a sales associate at Michael Kors
2. I was accepted into Teen Vogue Fashion University for the 2nd year in a row, where a woman named Grace Coddington aka Creative Director of Vogue magazine (NBD) ignited a spark in me to become more involved in Fashion.
Me, and 2 other attendees all sporting a “top-knot” at Teen Vogue Fashion U 2012

3. Finally that new flame lead me to create my own blog, “The Passionate Fashionista”
**Starting this blog has made me remember how much I enjoy writing and has allowed me to think outside the box on what to write about next; my creativity side has been rediscovered.**
2012 was the year I grew up. I went from being a girl who loved fashion to a young woman who pursued her interest in fashion and is going to make it a career. I tried new things; stepped out of my comfort zone which was terrifying but now I am glad I did. The chances and risks I took lead to bigger and better things. In 2012, I feel like I proved a lot to myself, but 2012 was just my beginning.
2013, what’s next?
I did not get to this point in my life without a lot of hard work because like most jobs, in the fashion industry, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up the ladder. I am on the ladder but I want to climb even higher. Currently, I have a few career related ideas in the works but my lips are sealed or now. I will also continue to blog. Having a blog and keeping up with it may be stressful to some people but not for me. Blogging is an outlet for me. It allows me to write and share my passion for fashion with you. Honestly if I got paid to blog, that would be a dream job. I like interacting with you guys and love new comments or suggestions of what you want me to blog about. I was even thinking of having some sort of “Ask the Passionate Fashionista” series where you guys could send me your questions and I would respond to a few once a week.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF HAVING AN “ASK THE PASSIONATE FASHIONISTA” SERIES?
I would also like to let you guys know that I have 2 pages filled with topics I want to blog about, so keep on reading because:
I think I can say that when it comes to a lot of aspects of my life. I can’t wait to enjoy the ride.
The Passionate Fashionista
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and along with all the hustle and bustle of the Holidays, took time to look around and appreciate everything that is good in your life; your family, friends, health, career, etc. I don’t know if it is because I am getting older (23 in February) but I had never taken the time to realize how lucky and blessed I am.
I know that most people try to make a New Year’s resolution, which is new territory for me too; mine isn’t so much a resolution but just some things I know are achievable and that I would like to accomplish in the new year. Here it goes: In 2013 I want to continue to write and expand my blog’s audience; I have a list of things that I want to write about so get excited! Also, I want to maintain and strengthen my relationships with my family and friends. I will continue to work at Michael Kors but I hope something or some connection I make either through my blog or at MK will open some doors and take me in the right direction career wise. In addition, I would like to travel more this year; dreaming of a vacation to the beach. The last thing on my list is incredibly corny and cliché but I wish for love; I’m even chuckling to myself as I’m writing this but what can I say; I’m a romantic (thanks to too many Nicholas Sparks books and movies).
Pssst…His book “Safe Haven” is coming to the big screen in February and stars Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel; Josh Duhamel ladies, need I say more. I would encourage you to read the book first and stick a box of tissues in your purse when you see the movie.
Watch the trailer for “Safe Haven” by clicking the link below
I want to thank all of my readers for taking the time to read my blog; I admit that I was scared to start a blog because I didn’t know what kind of response I would get but I am so happy that I started “The Passionate Fashionista”. I am loving blogging more and more each day and I love finding new things to share with you, so thank you. I am going to be taking a short break from blogging until the New Year, but I promise that my time off will be well spent gathering information and researching new ideas. 2013 is going to be a good year for “The Passionate Fashionista”.
So, on New Year’s Eve, get dressed up and go dance the night away; curl up on the couch with a fire burning in the fireplace; watch movies all night with your special someone; watch the ball drop on TV or in person in Time’s Square; whatever your plans on I hope you have a fabulous New Year’s and raise your glass literally or figuratively and Cheers to the Freakin’ New Year!
I’m going to end this post with some “Words to Live By”.
Those are just some of the “Words I Live By.” Tell me what some of yours are.
The Passionate Fashionista
P.S. I hope that you and I get a taste of serendipity in 2013; whatever that entails…
The LIEBSTER Award
WOW… I am speechless and extremely flattered to have been nominated for the LIEBSTER award. I feel extremely honored to have been nominated for the LIEBSTER award. My fellow blogger supporter and friend simplyjyune has nominated me. A LIEBSTER award is given to new bloggers with less than 200 followers, giving them recognition, encouragement, and to help the rest of the blogging community discover their fabulous blogs. To comply with the rules my blogger pal simplyjyune has asked me 11 questions, and in return, I must select my favorite 11 newbie bloggers to pass on the award, along with my 11 questions for them….This is so exciting!
1. What do you like most about blogging?
I consider blogging my 2nd job in addition to working at Michael Kors. I would also consider it an outlet for when I am stressed. If I’m having a bad day, I want to blog. My passion is fashion after all and I love coming up with ideas for new things to write about. Yes, I am fairly new to the world of blogging, but I have followers who subscribe to my blog because they want to see what I’m going to write about next. I want to share things with people, not just about fashion but about other things too. I have almost 10 years of fashion experience; including various fashion opportunities and I feel it is my job to “Pay It Forward.”
2. What is your favorite style or fashion statement?
I would classify my favorite style as the “All American” girl look. Rachel Bilson, who played California girl Summer Roberts on the O.C., is the “All American Girl” of fashion. Rachel’s looks are always simple and classic; a perfect combination. From the streets to the red carpet, Bilson always manages to look her best; her style appears almost effortless.
My favorite fashion statement is currently leather and lace best emulated by a red Valentino dress.
3. What is one fashionable item that you regret buying and why?
A fedora. I didn’t regret buying it at the time; it was summer so it was fun to wear to pool parties. However looking back, it wasn’t my style at all.
4. What is your favorite piece of accessory?
Jewelry. I have a huge collection of jewelry; everything from earrings and rings from Forever 21, necklaces from Tiffany’s (birthday gifts), 2 Michael Kors’ watches, an assortment of bracelets that I love to stack on and am constantly adding to and finally my David Yurman bracelet (21st Birthday) gift. But the pieces of jewelry that I love the most are things that my family has given me; they are extra special.
5. What was your favorite trend in 2012?
6. Which designer is your favorite and why?
Michael Kors. Yes I may be a little bit biased because I work for his company but his products speak for themselves and I stand behind them 150%. Also, I love his attitude; he wants every woman to be able to own one of his products. At his Michael Kors’ lifestyle stores, not only does Michael himself hand pick his favorite things to be sold at the store but we also carry all of his lines including jewelry, shoes, handbags, sunglasses, etc. His labels include Michael Kors (high-end line) MICHAEL by Michael Kors which is very affordable to the woman who doesn’t want to spend $1000 on a handbag but still wants a Michael Kors bag. His label KORS by Michael Kors is his higher end shoe line. Michael tries to cater to every woman whereas some designers just have a high end line.
7. Which is one beauty product that you must have?
Loreal Paris Colour Riche Lip Balm. Not only does it have SPF 15 and soothes dry lips but it comes in several different colors. It provides the perfect amount of color with each application while remaining very natural. I own almost every shade! My favorite is nourishing nude.
8. What is your favorite color?
Triple tie- kelly green, black, and blue
9. Who is your fashion idol?
Blake Lively aka Mrs. Ryan Reynolds aka Serena Van Der Woodsen on “Gossip Girl.” Surprisingly, Blake has confessed that she has no stylist, and her fashion knowledge was acquired while working on Gossip Girl uses. She also references Style.com. Over the past few years Blake has not only solidified her status in Hollywood as a great actress but has emerged as the girl with a killer fashion sense both on and off the red carpet. She can be seen wearing everything from a neon pink Michael Kors dress, to an Elie Saab royal blue pant suit, and in Prabal Gurung’s fabulous dresses. With her flowing blonde tresses, flawless makeup and impeccable style, Lively will continue to shine in the fashion spotlight for many years to come.
10. Does your fashion reflect your personality?
My personal fashion style is simple and classic but with a modern flair. I love classic pieces like skinny jeans, and basic blouses. My day to day looks often involve mixing designer and affordable pieces; for example, pairing J Brand jeans with a tank top from Target. I am a big believer that accessories can transform an outfit, and I love accessorizing a simple outfit with a fun pair of shoes, a chunky necklace, or a statement handbag. While I do read all about the latest trends, I only experiment with trends that are true to my signature style; I buy trendy pieces that are modern yet classic and I know will enhance my look. I dress to impress myself and feel the most confident when flaunting an outfit that reflects my signature style in every aspect. I think that rings true to my personality; I feel my best when I am being myself. I am an outgoing, funny, vivacious and confident young woman. I know who I am and always try to stay true to myself. I am also a very loyal, and caring person. So I guess that my style does reflect my personality.
11. Do you have any fashionable don’ts.
Matching the color of your handbag to the color of your shoes; boyfriend jeans, VPL (visible panty line)…btw “Hanky Panky” makes the most comfortable thongs in every imaginable color; don’t show a lot of cleavage; anything that is too tight; overall, not dressing for your body type. I always feel terrible for other women who just don’t know how to dress for their body type, I wish I could help every one of them. DO rely on the saying “quality” over “quantity.” I was raised by a mother who lived and breathed fashion, always took my sister and I shopping and helped us with clothes; a mother who I credit with helping me to become the future “Passionate Fashionista.”
Again, I want to give an enormous thank you to simplyjyune. Now it is my turn to pass on the LIEBSTER Award to these amazing bloggers….(in no specific order)
1. Who is your fashion icon?
2. What is/was your favorite trend of 2012?
3. What is your favorite magazine/fashion magazine and why?
4. Currently, what artist or song can you not get enough of?
5. Who or what is the biggest inspiration in your life?
6. What is your favorite beauty product?
7. What is your “go-to” fragrance?
8. Why did you start blogging?
9. Do you have a favorite celebrity blog or blogger that you admire?
10. What is your favorite fashion “item” (clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbag, other accessory) that you own?
11. What are you going to wear on New Year’s Eve?
I’m so excited to read your responses, so please remember to leave me a comment after you have answered the questions and passed on the award to the next 11 lovely bloggers.
Congratulations! You deserve it.
