This is one of my favorite times of the year for two reasons: Spring, and NCAAMarch Madness
The Perfect Combination
This editorial immediately caught my eye; it brings together my love of fashion with a certain “madness”. Using bright colors, killer prints and bold styling, each of these looks proves that March Madness is happening both on and off the court.
“Hi, Hayley.” Addicted to Fashion Anonymous group (AFA)
Yes, I am perfectly comfortable admitting to my addiction. ( And I’m so glad that no such self-help group exists)
However, I’ve learned so much from all those fashion magazines over the years, and don’t believe I would be where I am in my life professionally if it wasn’t for Vogue or Marie Claire, or Harper’s Bazaar, AND maybe Cosmopolitan too. In a way, I consider fashion magazines “research”; they not only provide me with the latest trends and must have items but provide beauty and hair ideas, feature current and up-in-coming designers and I get to learn what celebrity is wear what. With the knowledge that I have taken away from the last Vogue magazine, I can go into work and tell my fellow employees about it. As I have mentioned, “I am referred to as the “product knowledge” Queen at work and don’t want to give up that title anytime soon.
I also am known to tear apart magazines, literally. LOL. I first was inspired to create an Inspiration” binder after reading a book published by the 2 women who founded, Who What Wear. I would pull out ad campaigns I liked, editorials I admired, pictures of celebrities, etc. and would carefully trim them to fit inside those clear things that go in binders. My first “inspiration binder” is now full; therefore I am creating more but categorizing them. One for beauty/hair/and makeup, one for editorials I like, another for ad campaigns, a 4th for “What is Trending Now”, and a final one for celebrities.
Magazines, magazines, and more magazines…
***Currently I am working out of my bedroom with a small desk that offers minimal storage and it is driving me crazy! Thank god for pinterest so I can plan how to re-do my office space! However if you have any good organizational tips, please let me know, thanks!
Well, it’s rainy. it’s Sunday and I can’t think of nothing I would like to do more than curl up with a blanket, maybe some hot chocolate, and catch up on magazines.
Fashion runs in my blood; my mom has worked in the fashion industry for over 30 years. She has been a buyer for a department store, manager and buyer of a high end boutique, and is now a personal fashion consultant. When I was 12 years old I started helping her at the boutique where she worked and that’s where my love of fashion began. For the last 10 years, I have lived and breathed fashion, and have loved every minute of it.
Last fall I was accepted to Teen Vogue Fashion U, where Michael Kors was the keynote speaker. Listening to Michael regale the audience with the story of how his company came to be, was inspiring and I knew I wanted to be a part of the company that he had worked so hard to build. I applied and was hired to work as a sales associate at one of Michael Kors’ lifestyle stores. Michael Kors is a company that I am proud to be a part of; I stand behind their products 150 %. I bring enthusiasm, product knowledge, and passion to the sales floor every day. Paying attention to a customer’s wants and needs allows me to provide them with their own personalized shopping experience.
My ultimate goal is to work as a stylist in the fashion industry; I feel I could apply my styling talent to a multitude of jobs such as visual merchandising and personal shopping. I would love to start my own personal fashion consulting business, working one on one with a client; doing everything from identifying their individual clothing needs, organizing their closets, taking them shopping, etc. I would also love to pursue fashion photography,
BUT right now I am trying my hand at fashion blogging. I have spent the last decade of my life learning about fashion from books, magazines, but my true knowledge of fashion has come from work experiences, both good and bad. I started this blog because I want to share my knowledge of fashion with the world. Think about it, fashion is everywhere; movies, TV, celebrity magazines, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, etc., on the streets, and so much more. I may not write specifically about fashion everyday, but I promise to give my readers something to talk about and hope that they can take away something from my blog.
