The Liebster Award

WOW… I am speechless and extremely flattered to have been nominated for the LIEBSTER award. I feel extremely honored to have been nominated for the LIEBSTER award. My fellow blogger supporter and friend simplyjyune has nominated me. A LIEBSTER award is given to new bloggers with less than 200 followers, giving them recognition, encouragement, and to help the rest of the blogging community discover their fabulous blogs. To comply with the rules my blogger pal simplyjyune has asked me 11 questions, and in return, I must select my favorite 11 newbie bloggers to pass on the award, along with my 11 questions for them….This is so exciting!

11 Questions

1. What do you like most about blogging?

I consider blogging my 2nd job in addition to working at Michael Kors. I would also consider it an outlet for when I am stressed. If I’m having a bad day, I want to blog. My passion is fashion after all and I love coming up with ideas for new things to write about. Yes, I am fairly new  to the world of blogging, but I have followers who subscribe to my blog because they want to see what I’m going to write about next. I want to share things with people, not just about fashion but about other things too. I have almost 10 years of  fashion experience; including various fashion opportunities and I feel it is my job to “Pay It Forward.”

2. What is your favorite style or fashion statement?

I would classify my favorite style as the “All American” girl look. Rachel Bilson, who played  California girl Summer Roberts on the O.C., is the “All American Girl” of fashion. Rachel’s looks are always simple and classic; a perfect combination. From the streets to the red carpet, Bilson always manages to look her best; her style appears almost effortless.

My favorite fashion statement is currently leather and lace best emulated by a red Valentino dress.

3. What is one fashionable item that you regret buying and why?

A fedora. I didn’t regret buying it at the time; it was summer so it was fun to wear to pool parties. However looking back, it wasn’t my style at all.

4. What is your favorite piece of accessory?

Jewelry.  I have a huge collection of jewelry; everything from earrings and rings from Forever 21, necklaces from Tiffany’s (birthday gifts), 2 Michael Kors’ watches, an assortment of bracelets that I love to stack on and am constantly adding to and finally my David Yurman bracelet (21st Birthday) gift. But the pieces of jewelry that I love the most are things that my family has given me; they are extra special.

5. What was your favorite trend in 2012?

6. Which designer is your favorite and why?

Michael Kors. Yes I may be a little bit biased because I work for his company but his products speak for themselves and I stand behind them 150%.  Also, I love his attitude; he wants every woman to be able to own one of his products. At his Michael Kors’ lifestyle stores, not only does Michael himself hand pick his favorite things to be sold at the store but we also carry all of his lines including jewelry, shoes, handbags, sunglasses, etc. His labels include Michael Kors (high-end line)  MICHAEL by Michael Kors which is very affordable to the woman who doesn’t want to spend $1000 on a handbag but still wants a Michael Kors bag. His label KORS by Michael Kors is his higher end shoe line.  Michael tries to cater to every woman whereas some designers just have a high end line.

7. Which is one beauty product that you must have?

Loreal Paris Colour Riche Lip Balm. Not only does it have SPF 15 and soothes dry lips but it comes in several different colors. It provides the perfect amount of color with each application while remaining very natural. I own almost every shade! My favorite is nourishing nude.

8. What is your favorite color?

Triple tie- kelly green, black, and blue

9. Who is your fashion idol?

Blake Lively aka Mrs. Ryan Reynolds aka Serena Van Der Woodsen on “Gossip Girl.” Surprisingly, Blake has  confessed that she has no stylist, and her fashion knowledge was acquired while working on Gossip Girl uses. She also references Over the past few years Blake has not only solidified her status in Hollywood as a great actress but has emerged as the girl with a killer fashion sense both on and off the red carpet. She can be seen wearing everything from a neon pink Michael Kors dress, to an Elie Saab royal blue pant suit, and in Prabal Gurung’s fabulous dresses. With her flowing blonde tresses, flawless makeup and impeccable style, Lively will continue to shine in the fashion spotlight for many years to come.

10. Does your fashion reflect your personality?

My personal fashion style is simple and classic but with a modern flair. I love classic pieces like skinny jeans, and basic blouses. My day to day looks often involve mixing designer and affordable pieces; for example, pairing J Brand jeans with a tank top from Target. I am a big believer that accessories can transform an outfit, and I love accessorizing a simple outfit with a fun pair of shoes, a chunky necklace, or a statement handbag. While I do read all about the latest trends, I only experiment with  trends that are true to my signature style; I buy trendy pieces that are modern yet classic and I know will enhance my look.  I dress to impress myself and feel the most confident when flaunting an outfit that reflects my signature style in every aspect. I think that rings true to my personality; I feel my best when I am being myself. I am an outgoing, funny, vivacious and confident young woman. I know who I am and always try to stay true to myself. I am also a very loyal, and caring person. So I guess that my style does reflect my personality.

11. Do you have any fashionable don’ts.

Matching the color of your handbag to the color of your shoes; boyfriend jeans, VPL (visible panty line)…btw “Hanky Panky” makes the most comfortable thongs in every imaginable color; don’t show a lot of cleavage; anything that is too tight; overall, not dressing for your body type. I always feel terrible for other women who just don’t know how to dress for their body type, I wish I could help every one of them.  DO rely on the saying “quality” over “quantity.”  I was raised by a mother who lived and breathed fashion, always took my sister and I shopping and helped us with clothes; a mother who I credit with helping me to become the future “Passionate Fashionista.”

Again, I want to give an enormous thank you to simplyjyune. Now it is my turn to pass on the LIEBSTER Award to these amazing bloggers….(in no specific order)

Thank God It’s Friday!

Today, I felt like I was in my car driving around town all day so I am happy that it’s the weekend. I can’t believe that tomorrow is December 1st! I feel like just yesterday it was summer and I was laying poolside…mmmmmm I’m closing my eyes and imagining…eyes open, it’s cold and December. BUT today, the last day of November, it was nearly 50 degrees! I was so excited at the thought of not having to bundle up and wear a winter coat.

Outfit of the Day

I started  with a basic item, like a short sleeve V-neck tee; try one in a fun color. Then, added a light jacket.

I love the color of my t-shirt; I think it looks great on blondes or “blondes”; I fall in the “blonde” category. I have been dying my hair blonde since I was 11 years old, so for half my life(shhhh)

I decided to add a military style jacket to give my plain tee some edge. I love all the details of the jacket such as the zippered breast pockets and the shoulder detail.

***If you want to try the military trend, look for items such as jackets with details like large buttons, zippers, etc if these accents are gold, even better.; I also think certain silk button down blouses like the ones we all have seen at H&M and Forever 21 are edgy and utilitarian

Add a neutral colored scarf to your jacket for a little extra warmth.

I decided to dig deep in my closet and instead of pulling out a pair of jeans, chose these distressed brown skinny cords

*I feel like people forget about corduroy pants but the Gap makes great skinny cords in good colors

Next I accessorize with gold bracelets. Mines don’t match and range from a $5 Forever 21 bracelet to a David Yurman bracelet (21st BDAY gift!)

I love mixing high-end clothing or jewelry with less expensive pieces, which will give you a unique look

****I am obsessed with my gold spiked bracelet from H&M, (only $4.95); I love how edgy it is

My New Obsession

Bolo Vero Cuoio Lace Up Booties

The things I find in my closet! I had totally forgotten about these Italian leather booties; how is that possible?

Bolo Vero Cuoio describes their boots as punkish and gothic; yes they are different but I think I am drawn to their edginess. Plus I am in love with their color!

Like I have said before, I am usually drawn to classic items with a modern twist but these are anything but classic. I even think they would look great worn with a skirt and brown tights.

*I can think of 2 skirts in my closet right now; one a feminine and romantic blush color skirt that could use a little bit of “punk”

***Question to my readers how would you best describe your style and do you always stick to that style or mix it up?***

Final Look

(Mom I can’t believe you never use this bag)

One Last Thing….

As I first told you, I don’t want this blog to just focus on fashion because fashion is everywhere and achieving true style is more than just having the right clothes. There’s hair, makeup, accessories, etc., and I want to write about all of these things.

In addition to just putting together this outfit, I also tried a current makeup trend because I was curious if I could pull it of

I’m sure everyone has heard, seen or even tried the dark lip color trend. Maybe you have seen it in a magazine but are afraid to try it? Or maybe you have tried it and it was a disaster! That’s where I come in…

The Before Look

*I am fresh-faced wearing mascara and a little bit of concealer

AND after applying my new COVERGIRL BlastFlipstick blendable lip duo in Glimmer

(I only used the darker lip color)

The “After”

*Color is slightly darker than it appears

I love this look. Now I have a “going out” look that doesn’t involve heavy eye makeup!

**Keep in mind that I have only have on mascara; keeping my eyes makeup, natural and simple so it doesn’t overpower the look I am trying to achieve or look like I am wearing too much makeup**

Also, do a little research in order to find what is the best dark lip color for you. Try InStyle magazine. And I would recommend using a lipstick rather than a lip gloss so that your lip color appears more dramatic and lasts longer.

So, those are my latest outfit and makeup looks. Let me know if you have any questions or comments, I always love feedback!

It’s supposed to be 50 degrees again tomorrow, yay! Enjoy your weekend, I know I will.
